In this film, Mark Bradford discusses his exhibition Sea Monsters at The Rose Art Museum, Massachusetts. Bradford talks about how his work often begins at the juncture of two points, pulling ideas from both history and contemporary life. He discusses his interest in 16th century medieval maps and how the themes of navigation, vulnerability and notions of 'the other' relate to his use of urban typographical material – such as street posters and adverts – in his work.
