Coinciding with a late night opening of Eddie Peake’s White Cube Bermondsey exhibition ‘Concrete Pitch’, the artist presents Loop One, a 20-minute performance featuring sound and choreography performed by dancers Kieram Corrin Mitchell and Emma Fisher. A special set by Kool London DJ Bryan Gee takes place after the performance and will be broadcast live on Facebook and Koollondon.com.
The title of the exhibition, ‘Concrete Pitch’, was inspired by the bare, concrete recreation ground in Finsbury Park in London where Peake grew up. The works in the show weave autobiographical elements and examination of self-identity with more general themes of desire, the body, architecture and urban landscape.
DJs from Kool London are resident at White Cube Bermondsey for the duration of the exhibition. Broadcasting oldskool jungle and drum and bass from East London tower blocks since 1991, Kool FM is one of the longest running underground stations and provided the soundtrack to Peake’s adolescence.
