As part of the re-opening of the refurbished Kunstsammlung Nordhrein-Westfalen am Grabbeplatz, Sarah Morris has been specially commissioned to produce a permanent work to adorn the northernmost terminal wall at Paul-Klee Platz.
‘Hornet’ (2010) is a new wall-based commission spanning twenty-six metres in length and consisting of hand-painted, high-gloss ceramic tiles measuring 30 x 30 cm each. With its complex geometric structures and luminous coloration, ‘Hornet’ alludes to the vibrant textures of the metropolis.
‘Hornet’ and the permanent collection will be on view to the public from 10 July 2010.
