11 and 14 September 2014
On 11 September Marclay will perform Everyday (2011) as part of Biennale Bern, 2014. Created for the Aldburgh Music Festival, the work is an evolving audio-visual performance, in which the musicians improvise in response to a collage of film clips.
Performing with Marclay will be pianist, electronic musician and composer Steve Beresford; saxophonist and composer John Butcher; percussionist Mark Sanders and trombonist Alan Tomlinson.
11 September, 9 – 10pm
On 14 September a selection of Marclay’s graphic and video scores will be performed across two venues by ‘ensemBle baBel’, with Antonio Albanese on guitar, Jacques Demierre on keyboards, Laurent Estoppey on saxophone, Luc Müller on percussion and Noëlle Reymond on double bass. The ensemble will perform works including Graffiti Composition (1996–2002) which Marclay produced by pasting up blank music sheets on the streets of Berlin and creating an interpretative score from the graffiti he found on them. Shuffle (2007) a score in the form of a card game will also be performed, alongside screening of video scores Screenplay (2002) and The Bell and the Glass(2003).
