17 September 2016–29 January 2017
Christian Marclay’s The Clock (2010) will be on display at Museum of Fine Arts Boston. This 24-hour, single-channel video has been created from thousands of edited fragments from a vast range of films. The Clock examines how time, plot and duration are depicted in cinema and is also a working timepiece, synchronised to the local time zone of where it is displayed.
To coincide with the Boston screening of The Clock, Christian Marclay will be giving a lecture as part of The Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Celebrity Lectures on 15 September 2016 at 6.30pm. The Shapiro Lecture series features visual and performing artists, composers, critics, and authors in an ongoing conversation with their audience on stimulating issues in culture today.
