20 November 2014 – 15 March 2015
‘Chuck Close: Prints, Process and Collaboration’, part of the Sydney International Art Series, is a solo exhibition featuring over 200 works.
Spanning a period from 1970 to his most recent works, the exhibition reveals the extent of the artist’s exploration of printmaking techniques, including etching, aquatint, lithography, direct gravure, silkscreen, traditional Japanese woodcut and reduction linocut.
The works on display evidence Close’s technical skill and innovation, using these printmaking techniques to create his iconic, hyper-real portraits, each one of which can take up to two years to realise.
