Works by Elad Lassry are featured in the exhibition 'SYSTEMATICALLY OPEN? New Forms for Contemporary Image Production', which explores new structures for the presentation of the photographic image. Four artists – Walead Besthy, Elad Lassry, Zanele Muholi and Collier Schorr – have each been invited to develop an exhibition that responds to architect Philippe Rahm, whose architectural designs will structure the overarching concept.
Lassry's project 'Untitled', a series of undated colour photographs depicting dental procedures and extreme close-up images of teeth and gums. The exhibition explores the kinds of engagement viewers can have with medical imagery and how this is shifted when they are seen in the context of a museum. Although at first glance such photographs often appear artistically meaningless, Lassry’s project reveals their capacity for relevance and legibility.
