Ellen Altfest talk at the ICA
Ellen Altfest will be in conversation with Marina Cashdan in the week of the opening of her forthcoming exhibition at White Cube.
Altfest consumes herself in an intense analysis and personal engagement with the subject that pushes her vision beyond the real, always painting from life rather than reproduction. Altfest received an MFA from Yale University and prior to that attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2002). A number of her works are in the Saatchi collection and were shown as part of the ‘USA Today’ exhibition at the Royal Academy (2006) and the State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg (2007). Altfest’s solo exhibition at White Cube Hoxton opens on 14 November.
Marina Cashdan works as a curator and writer in New York. She contributes to various publications including Frieze, Modern Painters, Wallpaper* and Surface.
