For his exhibition at Berlinische Galerie Museum of Modern Art, Franz Ackermann has developed a unique installation that places two-dimensional painting, panel art and photography in conversation with one another.
Titled 'Hills and Doubts', the exhibition is the first to open as part of the 'Painting Forever!' series, a collaborative project between Berlinische Galerie, Deutsche Bank KunstHalle, KW Institute for Contemporary Art and Nationalgalerie, State Museums of Berlin.
The exhibition, focused around spatial concepts and lines of sight - both ongoing themes in the Ackermann's work, was described by Dr. Thomas Köhler, director of Berlinische Galerie and curator of the exhibition, as a way of 'critically addressing communication, institutional limits and models of perception'.
As the inaugural exhibition of 'Painting Forever!', 'Hills and Doubts' introduces the series, as an exploration of the medium of painting and its multifaceted nature.
