To coincide with the opening of the Edinburgh Art Festival, The Fruitmarket Gallery will present a solo exhibition by Gabriel Orozco. Taking the 2005 painting The Eye of Go as its starting point, the exhibition looks at how the circular geometric motif of this painting migrates onto other work, recurring in other paintings, sculptures and photographs.
A highlight of the exhibition will be a series of never before exhibited, large geometric works on acetate, that were made in the mid 1990s. These works propose a different view of Orozco's major contribution to changes in art in the 1990s.
The exhibition is curated by art historian and writer, Professor Briony Fer and will be accompanied by a new publication she has written.
