5 June – 31 August 2014
Gary Hume and The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation have collaborated with contemporary rug and fabric company Christopher Farr for this exhibition of limited-edition textiles.
Hume’s breakthrough series of door paintings, which were first shown at Damien Hirst’s Freeze exhibition in 1988 will feature on 13 unique hand knotted rugs. The rugs will be exhibited alongside the first door painting Hume ever completed whilst at Goldsmiths, University of London.
The exhibition will include 20 hand-crafted rugs, tapestries and fabric installations, on show for the first time, alongside materials from the extensive archives of The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. These include textile samples, photographs and documents which have rarely been shown in public.
