25 August–25 October 2016
He Xiangyu and Liu Wei are among the 63 artists from 20 countries participating in the Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art. Titled ‘Weaving & We’ and using weaving as a starting point, the exhibition focuses on the history of textiles and the relation of materials to technology.
He Xiangyu presents Obscure Mass–1540 (2015), an installation sharing similar artistic concerns with his 'Palate Project'. In Obscure Mass–1540 the artist explores the complex physical principle of interaction under gravity.
Green Land (2014-2016) by Liu Wei, also features in the exhibition and the work could be read as an extension of the artist's ‘Jungle’ series. Inspired by current global affairs, Green Land forms an abstracted cityscape or maze.
