Liu Wei is among the 100 international artists included in the 2016 Aichi Triennale held in Nagoya, Japan. As one of the country’s leading international art festivals, the Triennale focuses on contemporary works of visual art as well as stage performances.
‘A Rainbow Caravan’ is the theme for this year’s edition, making reference to humankind’s creative journey and the insatiable curiosity that often drives and sustains it.
Liu Wei’s large sculptures and installations utilise a diverse range of objects to create spaces that are simultaneously tranquil and chaotic, reflecting on China’s rapid urbanisation.
