Miroslaw Balka at Akademie der Kunste, Berlin
Miroslaw Balka presents his solo exhibition ‘Fragment’ at the Akademie der Kunste, Berlin this winter. Exploring the collective experience engendered by Poland’s troubled history, Balka’s videos and sculptures are also informed by his Catholic background. In this exhibition, the ephemeral nature of the video projections is weighted by their concrete sites and presence in space. The works shown reveal more poetic than documentary impulses and brief non-narrative moments produce an intense imagery which evoke universal experiences, hopes and fears.
