Miroslaw Balka will present his first solo exhibition at the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow, as part of the 5th Moscow Biennale.
Balka explores and depicts the interaction between personal and historical memory and interprets the broken history of his country through crimes committed against humanity in the last century and through his own Catholic upbringing.
The exhibition titled, 'Fragment' will include works such as Winterreise (2003), Carrousel (2004) and BlueGasEyes (2004). Balka has been described as 'master poet of infinite vision' and his works as 'mysterious and poetic' - always connected to the place in which they were conceived.
