28 March – 14 June 2015
A solo exhibition by Mona Hatoum programmed in conjunction with Estação Pinacoteca, São Paulo.
Hatoum is renowned for her transformation of familiar, everyday objects into visceral and politically loaded artworks. For this exhibition works in a range media are presented, including Sonhando Acordado (2014). This installation is composed of 33 pillowcases embroidered by the mothers of child cardiac patients. Hatoum first became aware of their embroidery work during a trip to Brazil in 2010, through the organisation ACTC, who house the women while their children undergo treatment. Hatoum later invited them to contribute to the new work.
This exhibition is organised with the support of Organización Techint with the aim of strengthening ties between Brazil and Argentina.
