Mona Hatoum participates in the group show ‘In Rebellion. Female narratives in the Arab world’. The exhibition explores the realities of the Arab world since the 1990s, as seen through the different perspectives of female artists. Also included are works that reflect the construction of femininity by men.
The exhibition looks at the political capacity for the transformation of women into social agents and is centred around four concepts: Private spaces, personal areas; The body, the desire, the sexuality; Places and symbols of the public; and finally, history, its folds and conflicts.
