Doris Salcedo’s installation ‘Palimpsesto’ at the Palacio de Cristal, refers to all those who have drowned in the Mediterranean and Atlantic over the past twenty years in their attempts to emigrate. The names of the men and women who died searching for a better life with greater freedoms are temporarily and intermittently written with drops of water on stone slabs made through a complex hydraulic engineering system.
