Gilbert & George at Holland Festival, Amsterdam

Based on an interview with Gilbert & George in 1996, 'The Naked Shit Songs' is an innovative piece of musical theatre by composer Huba de Graaff.

Described as a ‘retropera', the performance sees its world premiere at Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, during Holland Festival 2017.

The libretto for the performance is taken from the transcript of an interview between Gilbert & George and art critic Theo van Gogh at the time of 'The Naked Shit Pictures' exhibition at Stedelijk Amsterdam.
