Mona Hatoum’s work is part of ‘Sculpture in the Close’ at Jesus College. The outdoor exhibition, now in its 15th year, is presented on the College grounds and comprises 20 works by nine female artists.

Mona Hatoum presents Bunker (2011), an installation featuring a series of structures made up of stacked steel sections. The objects, subjected to cutting and burning, are reminiscent of buildings damaged by war. The basic constructions are seemingly generic in form, but in fact refer to specific buildings from Beirut, Hatoum’s hometown.
