Runa Islam at ARTER, Istanbul
ARTER's new exhibition 'The Move' will present works by Adel Abidin, Rosa Barba and Runa Islam. Curated by Başak Şenova, the project has been shaped around the notions of visual and aural perception, strategies of spatial and perceptual transformation, and constructions of conceptual territories through their diverse areas of artistic research.
'The Move' draws specific works by the three artists together at ARTER's ground floor and presents their solo exhibitions on the next three floors: 'beyond...' by Adel Abidin, 'annotations' by Rosa Barba, and 'dogs devouring horses' by Runa Islam.
Runa Islam makes film and video installations that use overlapping layers of narrative to explore notions of truth and fiction, subjectivity and authorship. Islam installs her films in architectural configurations, frequently presenting them across two or three screens as a framing device.
