24 March–17 June 2018
Sarah Morris’ solo exhibition ‘Odysseus Factor’ at UCCA offers the first complete presentation of her film output to date, alongside new monumental wall paintings, works on canvas and a selection of drawings.
Morris has been making abstract paintings and films since the mid-1990s, investigating urban, social and bureaucratic typologies. These works, based on different cities, are derived from close inspection of architectural details combined with a critical sensitivity to the psychology of a city and its key protagonists.
On 24 March, 2 - 3.30pm, Sarah Morris will be in conversation with Beatriz Leanza and Yung Ho, exploring Rem Koolhaas' concept of 'the generic city', the specific histories that shape cities and how artists, architects and urbanists might help us imagine them differently.
The event will be introduced by Amy Sherlock and will take place in UCCA's Auditorium. For ticket information please visit: http://ucca.org.cn/en/program/beyond-generic-city-imagining-urban-futures/
