The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, in partnership with Art Production Fund, has launched Tracey Emin’s moving series of digital neon works 'I Promise to Love You' shown hourly, as part of PAUSE—a public art exhibit on all LED signage both in and outside the resort.
'I Promise To Love You' is comprised of six artworks around the theme of love. In this unique moving image, the glowing words—made up of digital neon lights—slowly spell themselves out, as if being written by the hand of Emin herself. The gentle electric pulsing of the text gradually builds into a searing, potent red, leaving the viewer in no doubt about the power of love.
'I Promise To Love You' is featured on the hour, every hour on 8 individual LED screens for more than three minutes, including the resort’s 65-foot, the marquee on the pedestrian sidewalk along Las Vegas Boulevard, the three signs at each of the east entrances to the resort, the two tickers on the east corners of the building and the LED sign inside the northeast entrance near Bond. 'New Friends' by David Shrigley, will continue to be showcased on the half hour.
PAUSE is an innovative public art program that transforms The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas 65 foot marquee and other LED signs into a spectacular large-scale digital canvas showcasing work from leading contemporary artists. Viewers are instantly transported from the everyday buzz of The Strip to a thought-provoking place of contemplation and reflection. This urban art oasis turns an everyday sign into a cultural portal with the ability to touch everyone who passes by.
