19 April–18 September 2016
Georg Baselitz, Katharina Fritsch, Gilbert & George, Damien Hirst and Gabriel Orozco feature in the first exhibition to take place in the newly enlarged and renovated Kunstmuseum Basel.
The exhibition, ‘Sculpture on the Move’, focuses on ‘sculptural art between the end of World War II and the present’ and charts the medium’s extraordinarily dynamic evolution within this period.
The exhibition opens with late works by Constantin Brancusi and Alberto Giacometti and ends in the 1980s and 1990s with works by Baselitz, Fritsch, Hirst and Orozco.
Selected works from the collections of the Kunstmuseum Basel and eminent pieces on loan from international museums and private collections will be brought together for a rich dialogue of positions in sculpture.
