4 – 10 March 2015
Zhang Huan is director and set designer of a new production of Handal’s Semele, performed by the Canadian Opera Company, the US premier of which is hosted by BAM. The operatic retelling of the Greek myth of Semele marks Zhang’s directorial debut. The artist brings his characteristic re-imagining of traditional eastern imagery into play in retelling the story of ill-fated Semele’s attempts to trade sexual favours for divinity.
For performance times and tickets, visit BAM’s website. Premium ticket packages including post-show champagne reception with Zhang Huan available on opening night, 4 March 2015.
