In this film Theaster Gates discusses his plans for a now derelict bank on the South Side of Chicago. The 'Stony Island Arts Bank' building is located close to the University of Chicago where Gates teaches as well as to Gate's ongoing renovation projects on Dorchester Avenue. Gates discusses how his work is providing new living spaces for artists and how the bank, through a process of critical preservation, will become both an artwork and a much-needed communal and creative building that provides amenities for this burgeoning local community.
