In this film, Damián Ortega discusses his exhibition Apestraction at the Freud Museum, London. Ortega talks about the origins of this exhibition which came about after a two year research project with a natural reserve in Nigeria, where he was invited to follow the life of chimpanzees. Ortega discusses the ideas that informed his sculptures such as the parallel development of tools and language within our culture, the importance of diagrams and the remarkable similarity between the DNA of chimpanzees and humans.
