‌Anselm Kiefer has been honoured with The Queen Sonja Lifetime Achievement Award by Her Majesty the Queen of Norway. Regarded as the most prestigious prize in printmaking, Kiefer is recognised for his pioneering and unique use of woodcuts, which have been incorporated into many of his paintings and collages throughout his career.

The award will be presented at the Award Ceremony held in Bodø, Norway, the European Capital of Culture 2024, on the 5th and 6th June 2024.

Her Majesty Queen Sonja stated, ‘It is a great honour for the QSPA board to present Anselm Kiefer with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his distinguished contribution to the art of printmaking through a long and outstanding career.’
