White Cube in collaboration with Phaidon is pleased to announce the launch of Cerith Wyn Evans’ new monograph, published by Phaidon as part of the imprint’s ‘Contemporary Artist Series’. To mark the occasion, the artist will be in-conversation with Nancy Spector, contributor to the monograph and former Chief Curator of Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
Dedicated to the artist’s conceptual practice, this monograph explores Evans’ work on perception and the nuanced expression of ideas relating to thought, language and sensory reception. Working across multiple art forms – including sculpture, audio, film, photography, painting and drawing – Evans uses obscuration, translation, distortion and inversion to transpose form, text, code, light, sound and even time.
This extensive publication provides a comprehensive overview of the artist’s work, featuring essays by Spector and Director of Acute Art, Daniel Birnbaum, an in-conversation between Evans and Artistic Director of Serpentine Galleries, Hans Ulrich Obrist, as well as previously unpublished writings by the artist. The publication is edited by Commissioning Editor of Phaidon, Michele Robecchi.
Cerith Wyn Evans is published by Phaidon and is priced at £39.95. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase. A limited edition of the publication will also be available, including a hardcover box and a new editioned print signed by the artist.
Talk commences at 6:30 pm
