Doris Salcedo wins Praemium Imperiale Award

Doris Salcedo is among the recipients of this year’s Praemium Imperiale Award, widely considered one of the most prestigious honours in the art world. Now in its 35th year, the Japanese award recognises excellence across five categories: Architecture, Painting, Theatre/Film, Music and Sculpture.

Salcedo has been honoured with the award for Sculpture. The other recipients this year include Shigeru Ban for Architecture, Sophie Calle for Painting, Ang Lee for Theatre/Film and Maria João Pires for Music.
