Fred Tomaselli has designed a suite of new mosaic artworks for New York’s 14th Street 123 Subway Station. Titled ‘Wild Things’, the project was commissioned by MTA Arts & Design and comprises six mosaics stretching from 14th Street to 6th Avenue, linking up the L, M and F train lines.

Unveiled alongside the opening of two new elevators at the station, these large-scale works celebrate species that reside year-round in New York City. Inspired by the artist’s bird-watching experiences, the vibrant mosaics depict a woodpecker, a cardinal, an orioles and a falcon, among other native birds.
