He Xiangyu at the Asian Film Festival, Barcelona

He Xiangyu’s film The Swim is screened at the fifth edition of the Asian Film Festival in Barcelona.

First premiered at The Guggenheim Museum in February 2017, the feature-length film documents life on China's border with North Korea through a series of interviews with defectors and Korean War veterans and their families.

The Swim offers an insight into the cruel reality behind the beautiful surroundings of the artist’s home town of Kuandian and culminates with the artist’s performance of swimming across the Yalu River to North Korea.
