Ibrahim Mahama: Artist Talk at Fruitmarket

Posted:

6:30–7:30pm

5 October 2024

Edinburgh

To mark the occasion of Ibrahim Mahama’s exhibition, ‘Songs about Roses’, the artist will be joined in conversation with Fiona Bradley, Director at Fruitmarket.

The exhibition showcases materials Mahama collected from the now-defunct railway built by the British in Ghana in 1923, originally used to transport minerals and cocoa across what was then the Gold Coast. Through large-scale charcoal and ink drawings, sculpture and film, Mahama relocates the materials, histories and ghosts of this railway to Britain, re-installing them atop the railway in Edinburgh.
