Ibrahim Mahama’s installation, Parliament of Ghosts is on view as part of ‘Force Majeure’ at the Giardini of La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Lesley Lokko.

The major installation is a haunting assemblage of rescued and repurposed objects, including abandoned train seats, scrapped school furniture and documents from governmental archives, which form a vast parliamentary chamber.

Parliament of Ghosts was originally conceived for The Whitworth in Manchester as part of the 2019 Manchester International Festival, and subsequently transformed into the architecture of Red Clay in Tamale, Ghana.
