Ibrahim Mahama off-site project in the Miami Design District

Posted:

5 – 10 December 2017

White Cube presents an off-site project by Ibrahim Mahama, coinciding with Art Basel Miami.

Known for his large-scale installations incorporating jute sacks previously used to transport cocoa beans and charcoal, the project features Non-Orientable Nkansa, a towering sculpture comprised of hundreds of ‘shoemaker boxes’. Made from structural materials found in the city, these small wooden objects are used to contain tools for polishing and repairing shoes.
