Mona Hatoum at Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, London

Posted:

20 September – 17 December 2017

Mona Hatoum participates in the exhibition ‘Poor Art | Arte Povera: Italian Influences, British Responses’ at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art. Arte Povera or ‘poor art’ is a term that was first used in September 1967 by the art critic Germano Celant. With its origins in Italy, it was used to describe the work of a number of artists who engaged with unconventional, and often humble, materials before becoming internationally renowned.

This show celebrates the 50th anniversary of Celant’s first show and highlights the influence of Arte Povera on both British and Italian artists.
