In celebration of its 45th anniversary and the 5th anniversary of its renovation, the Fukuoka Art Museum will unveil a new iteration of Mona Hatoum’s iconic work + and -.

Hatoum first exhibited this kinetic sculpture in Fukuoka in 1994, exploring themes of creation and destruction through the dynamic interplay of drawing and erasing lines in a circular sand pit. The updated work will now be permanently embedded within the museum’s architecture.

The artist will be present for the unveiling and deliver a talk at 2pm on 14 September 2024, as part of the FaN Week 2024 opening events.
