Mona Hatoum and Ayse Erkmen feature in the joint exhibition ‘Displacements/Entortungen’ at the Museum der bildenden Künste.

The show explores the meaning of displacement, bringing together two artists who use place and historical context to explore individual and global concerns in their work.

In works such as Hot Spot III (2009) and Kapan (2012) Hatoum uses displacement to cause uncertainty and a sense of alienation, using familiar objects modified, or scaled up, to appear vulnerable or disorientating.
