Following the success of her exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery (2019–20), Louise Giovanelli will present a suite of new site-specific paintings at Moon Grove’s intimate, domestic gallery space in Rusholme, located on one of the city’s oldest streets. Reworking and often closely cropping details from sources including paintings, film, architecture and theatre, Giovanelli employs repetition as a leitmotif in order to achieve an augmented sense of reality.

‘Always Different, Always the Same’ takes John Peel’s famous description of Manchester band ‘The Fall’, images of the Eucharist and contemporary spiritual reverie as its starting point. The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication, scheduled to be published in April 2023.
