Antony Gormley at M+, Hong Kong

Posted:

12 November 2021 - 3 July 2022

M+, Hong Kong presents Asian Field, a project by Antony Gormley, from 12 November 2021 to 3 July 2022. Produced in 2003 with around 300 participants from a village in Guangzhou City, formerly known as Xiangshan (now Huadong Town), the installation features approximately 200,000 simple clay forms. Experienced by the viewer from a restricted viewpoint as an expansive ‘field’ or mass, Asian Field is the biggest and most ambitious of Gormley's ‘field’ installations to date, and reflects on China’s vast territory and ever-growing population. Also featured in the exhibition are photographs by Zhang Hai’er, documenting the individual makers of the sculptural forms in a series of portraits.
