Julie Mehretu elected as National Academician

Julie Mehretu is one of eight new National Academicians elected by the National Academy of Design, New York.

Established in 1825, America’s first artist-led arts organisation inducts new Academicians each year in recognition of their contribution to contemporary American art and architecture.

Nominated and elected by current members, Mehretu will join a community of 450 peers who represent the breadth of cultural practice across the USA.
