Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Georg Kolbe Museum, KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art
Three Berlin institutions present solo exhibitions of work by Mona Hatoum, the artist’s first large-scale survey in the city. At Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Hatoum explores ideas of home, structural violence and human vulnerability in various works. The Georg Kolbe Museum presents a cross-section of sculptural installations, including Remains of the Day (2016–18), which uses material processes to produce an uncanny domestic scene, in addition to a number of new works that respond to the location. At KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art, the artist takes advantage of the towering boiler house within the former beer factory, presenting a site-specific installation that makes reference to the upheavals of the present and our precarious existence.
