The Little House, Dries Van Noten, Los Angeles
Raqib Shaw will present new works alongside paintings, drawings and bronze sculptures from various periods at Dries van Noten Los Angeles’ exhibition space this February, in collaboration with Jeffrey Deitch and White Cube.
‘Tales from an Urban Garden’ explores the garden as a place where multiple topographies, landscapes, histories and life experiences collide. Kashmir is often described as the ‘Garden of the Himalayas’ and the artist has continually turned to the garden as a setting for tapping into his subconscious. Inspired by the scale and ambition of Mughal horticultural aesthetics, Shaw’s paintings reflect and engage with nature, high-altitude flora and fauna within his studio garden to create ‘a world in miniature that could be magnified on canvas.’
