The Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) presents ‘Sara Flores. Non Nete. A Dream for an Indigenous Nation’, marking Flores’s first institutional exhibition, as well as the first time a Shipibo-Conibo artist has had a solo show at the museum. The exhibition showcases a new body of work inspired by the dream of Indigenous self-determination, through which Flores addresses the Peruvian state on behalf of her people.

The works on view highlight the political dimension inherent to Flores’s practice, most notably through her design for the Shipibo Nation Flag, which embodies the principles of ecofeminism and deep ecology.

‘Non Nete’, which translates from Shipibo-Conibo as ‘our world’, serves as the exhibition’s central theme. It conveys the interdependence of all life forms and the interconnectedness of different realms. Through this exhibition, Flores invites viewers to reflect on the regeneration of a world profoundly altered by climate change, presenting an Indigenous cosmology that aspires to collective wellbeing and harmony across all aspects of life.
