Sara Flores collaborates with Dior for the 9th edition Dior Lady Art Project

Sara Flores has collaborated with Dior on the 9th edition of the Dior Lady Art Project, in which a selected group of artists are invited to reimagine the house’s iconic Lady Dior bag in their unique visual styles.

Drawing on elements from her Amazonian heritage, Sara replaced the iconic patterns of Dior with her Kené, the design-based visual language of the Shipibo-Conibo People she masters.

Sara has created two unique iterations of the Lady Dior bag, made with vegan pineapple leather and vegetal dyes on hand-painted tocuyo cotton, both to create no harm to the environment and to provide support to Indigenous-led environmental activism efforts in the Peruvian Amazon.

Alongside Sara Flores, other artists featured in this year’s project include Jeffrey Gibson, Huang Yuxing, Liang Yuanwei, Danielle McKinney, Duy Anh Nhan Duc, Hayal Pozanti, Faith Ringgold, Vaughn Spann, Anna Weyant and Woo Kukwon.

The project will be pre-launched on 7 November 2024 at Dior’s flagship locations in Paris and Shanghai, ahead of a global rollout in November and December in selected stores.
