Tracey Emin at Faurschou

Tracey Emin’s solo exhibition, ‘Exorcism of the Last Painting I Ever Made’, opens at Faurschou in New York this October. The exhibition marks the first time that this collection of work has been exhibited in the US.

In 1996, Tracey Emin locked herself in a Stockholm gallery for three weeks to reconcile her anxieties and guilt around painting, which she had stopped producing in 1990. In these three weeks, Emin created a collection of deeply personal paintings, drawings and objects. The collection has been preserved as an installation, which is exhibited at Faurschou in its original constellation.

‘Exorcism of the Last Painting I Ever Made’ is a pivotal work in Emin’s career, serving as a precursor to her exploration of trauma, emotion and expression in works that have followed.
