Booth D14

At the 2019 edition of Art Basel, White Cube presents works by Tracey Emin, Theaster Gates, Antony Gormley, Mona Hatoum, Al Held, Liu Wei, Jannis Kounellis, Ibrahim Mahama, Christian Marclay, Sarah Morris, Park Seo-Bo and more.

Highlights include:

  • Mona Hatoum’s Untitled (wheelchair) (1998), a sleek wheelchair made out of stainless steel with its handles replaced by sharp knife blades. In her work, Hatoum frequently subverts common household objects and turns them into potential threats. The artist will unveil new sculpture and installation in a solo exhibition at White Cube Bermondsey from 12 September – 20 October 2019.
  • Christian Marclay’s Scream (Four Slices) (2018), from his series of unique, large-scale woodcut prints that explore the physical and cultural intersection of sound and vision. Marclay is one of 79 artists participating in the Venice Biennale’s 58th International Art Exhibition 'May You Live In Interesting Times', curated by Ralph Rugoff, which runs until 24 November 2019.
  • A wall-based sculpture by Jannis Kounellis featuring the artist’s signature elements – steel, lead and fabric. In Senza titolo (1996), a vertical steel column holds colourful cloth-rags that spill out of its regular divisions, in an exploration of two and three dimensionality, expansion and containment. A major retrospective of Kounellis’s work is on display at Fondazione Prada, Venice, until 24 November 2019.
