White Cube participates in the 40th edition of the London Original Print Fair at Somerset House from 20–23 March 2025. Celebrating printmaking in all its forms, London Original Print Fair is the city’s longest running art fair.
The gallery brings together a curated selection of works by leading women artists who use prints and multiples as a means of expression and a space for experimentation. Artists presented include Julie Curtiss, Tracey Emin, Louise Giovanelli, Mona Hatoum, Rachel Kneebone, Virginia Overton, Ilana Savdie and Christine Ay Tjoe, with prices ranging from £750 to £10,000 (excluding VAT).
Highlights include:
Tracey Emin’s (b. 1963, London)
Illustrations From Memory 1994 (2007), is an early portfolio of four etchings derived from a series of 19 monoprints made in 1994, 16 of which were exhibited as part of Emin’s presentation for the British Pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale. This group of small-scale works is shown alongside a large screenprint by the artist,
It was all About Loving you (2022); a reclining female nude employing the artist’s distinctive bold line in dark blue ink.
The inclusion of Louise Giovanelli’s (b. 1993, London) lithographs
Tide and
Plexus (both 2024), coincides with her current major exhibition ‘A Song of Ascents’ at The Hepworth Wakefield, UK, on view until 21 April 2025. Depicting closely cropped views of glossy hair, the works belong to a series of paintings by Giovanelli focused on wigs, which speak to the artist’s interest in a formal investigation of light and its relationship to texture through the lens of Renaissance art.
Ecdysis (2024), an etching by Ilana Savdie (b. 1986, raised in Barranquilla, Colombia), was created to coincide with the artist’s 2024 exhibition at White Cube Paris. This is the first foray into printmaking by the New York-based artist, which she is now further developing, working alongside a master printmaker, and intends to introduce into her solo exhibition at White Cube New York in May 2025.
Presented to coincide with Mona Hatoum’s (b. 1952, Beirut, to a Palestinian family) solo exhibition at White Cube Seoul, the booth features
Untitled (whisks) (2018). Hatoum’s lithograph uses a black ground to offset four delicately outlined personified kitchen whisks. Invoking the comfort of the domestic yet tinged with menace, the four utensils stand sentinel.
Honey Luard, Senior Director of Editorial at White Cube:
Prints and multiples can provide a more affordable and accessible entry point for people looking to build their collection. At London Original Print Fair, we will be showcasing a broad range of editioned artworks and multiples produced by many highly respected artists who are part of our gallery programme.
Each print we will be bringing to the fair has been conceived and produced in close collaboration with the artist. For some, such as Ilana Savdie and Louise Giovanelli, the skills and mediums involved represent a new area for creative expression, offering an opportunity for risk-taking and experimentation with previously unfamiliar techniques and materials. For others, such as Tracey Emin and Mona Hatoum, mastering and pushing the boundaries of printmaking in all its forms has been intrinsic to their practice for decades.
We’re looking forward to returning to the fair after over 10 years and connecting with new audiences with a passion for contemporary art.
