Published as part of Phaidon’s ‘Contemporary Artist Series’, this monograph is dedicated to Cerith Wyn Evans’ conceptual practice, exploring the artist’s work on perception and the nuanced expression of ideas relating to thought, language and sensory reception. With generous colour illustrations, the publication highlights the breadth of Evans’ work, where intertextual materials create atmospheres and forms that embrace the visual, philosophical, aural, spatial and physical.

Providing a comprehensive overview of the artist’s work, the monograph features essays by Nancy Spector and Daniel Birnbaum, an in-conversation between Evans and Hans Ulrich Obrist, as well as previously unpublished writings by the artist.

Daniel Birnbaum is Director of Acute Art, London. He is Professor of Philosophy at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and a contributing editor to Artforum.

Hans Ulrich Obrist is Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London.

Nancy Spector is a curator, critic and art historian, previously Chief Curator of Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.
