On view at White Cube Mason’s Yard, London and White Cube West Palm Beach, Florida, ‘THE CORPSING PICTURES’ is Gilbert & George’s most profoundly personal and confrontational series of work to date. The title refers both to death and dead bodies as well as the theatrical slang ‘corpsing’ in which an actor suddenly steps out of character during a performance, by either forgetting their lines, or laughing, or causing another actor in the scene to lose their composure.

Comprised of three state-of-the-art galleries spanning over 280 square metres, The Gilbert & George Centre opens to the public on 1 April 2023 with an inaugural exhibition of ‘THE PARADISICAL PICTURES’. Gilbert & George’s vision for the Centre, a registered charity, is for it to serve as a place for research and scholarship on their art, as well as a major cultural institution in London.
